Music Program
Music is an inspiring program
that begins in K1 with cheerful singing and energetic
vocalizing. KII follows in the same spirit as K1. Grades
1-5 continue with, among other things, seasonal songs, which
includes preparation for the annual Christmas concert. Grade 6,
7 and 8 are more deeply involved in music theory, including note
recognition as well as composer biographies. These grades will
also have an introduction to theatrical arts, acting, and
performing.
Physical Education
Classes are held weekly. Some
of the activities include:
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Kickball
- Soccer
- Other misc. games
(Capture the Flag, Sharks and Minnows, etc...)
Spanish
Spanish classes are an
introductory program. Students will have been exposed to the
equivalent of first year Spanish. Classes are offered twice per
week for grades 6 through 8. Enrichment classes are offered to
grades 3 through 5 once per week.
Arts Program
Using many different forms of
art and sculpture, the students here at ICS are encouraged to
use their imagination in new and exciting ways. Students will
work on special projects in addition to their weekly curriculum.
Creativity is encouraged.
Computer Program
The ICS computer Program aims
to teach students everything from general computer knowledge,
such as identifying components of a computer, and running
programs, to more complex skills like spreadsheets and
databases.
Younger children enjoy playing
educational games that teach basic math, spelling and grammar
skills, while older students are challenged with Integrated
Office Applications, object-oriented presentation design and
development (using HyperStudio), graphic design, web design, and
even some basic programming skills.
As well as learning a
multitude of software applications, the students also practice
their keyboarding skills on a regular basis.
